Highland Avenue in Des Peres was failing from the ground up: deteriorating pavement traced to underlying drainage deficiencies along a 0.45-mile stretch from the Sugar Creek bridge to the southern city limits. Resurfacing alone would not have lasted, so the rehabilitation was scoped to fix the drainage at the root of the problem alongside the roadway work.
G&W developed the transportation civil design from concept through bid documents, covering limited base repairs, asphalt overlay, curb and gutter, and drainage facility upgrades. The scope also included right-of-way exhibits and legal descriptions for affected parcels and stormwater coordination with MSD for water quality and detention. Boundary and topographic survey ran through a sub-consultant, and G&W supported bidding and construction.
