Benedictine Living Community at The Shrine

A multi-building senior living campus in Belleville ran its heating and cooling through one central plant serving independent living, skilled nursing, and assisted living buildings, the oldest dating to the 1960s. The phased plan breaks that single point of dependence. Six apartment buildings convert to cold-weather split-system heat pumps and all-electric service, corridors get dedicated air conditioning, a five-story building moves onto its own packaged modular plant, and the central plant load drops by roughly 250 tons as buildings come off it.

G&W handled the MEPFP design across both phases, from existing-condition evaluation and load studies through construction documents, construction administration, and Ameren incentive documentation. A separate MEP property condition assessment of the campus amphitheater evaluated its systems and documented their condition for the owner.
