The new Ballwin Police Department centers on a hardened 911 dispatch function that has to remain operational through the conditions a public safety facility is built to withstand. Designed as a two-story building with underground parking, the facility’s electrical and low voltage systems carry the load of continuous law enforcement and emergency response operations.
Selected by the project architect, G&W delivered the full electrical and low voltage engineering package: normal and emergency power distribution, interior (ambient and egress) lighting design, site lighting photometrics, and short circuit and arc flash studies. The low voltage scope covered telecommunications and data backbone, wireless systems, two-way radio, and 911 dispatch operations. Security systems were designed as an integrated package with perimeter entry control, interior access control and monitoring, holding cells, and sally port systems.
