A fluid-applied air barrier only performs if it bonds to the substrate, and on a medical facility where the enclosure protects sensitive interior environments, that bond is worth verifying rather than assuming. Once the barrier is installed and covered, there is no practical way to confirm adhesion after the fact, which is why pull-off testing happens while the assembly is still accessible.

G&W conducted field pull-off strength testing on the previously installed air barrier across three test areas during a single site visit. Testing followed ASTM D4541 for pull-off strength using a portable adhesion tester, along with ABAA T002-2019 for adhered air and water resistive barriers. A report documenting test locations, conditions, and results was delivered within 48 hours of testing.
