The new ~48,000 SF Optometry and Nursing Building on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus brings together academic and clinical program under a single envelope. Testing was sequenced through construction to verify each exterior assembly’s air-tightness and water resistance before substantial completion.
G&W delivered the envelope testing scope for the project’s general contractor. Glazed aluminum window air infiltration and water penetration followed ASTM E 783 and ASTM E 1105 across multiple wall locations. Air barrier verification used ASTM E 1186 bubble-gun site detection on completed wall sections. Skylight and metal panel water penetration testing followed AAMA 501.2, and an ASTM C 1153 infrared imaging survey replaced traditional flood testing on the newly installed TPO roof system.
