An existing four-story office building with ribbon window and curtainwall systems needed a defensible read on how those assemblies were performing and how much service life remained in the glass. When the question is remaining useful life rather than new-construction acceptance, the testing has to sample enough of the building to support an opinion the owner can plan capital around.
G&W’s scope paired two testing methods to answer that question. Spray nozzle water testing per AAMA 501.2 covered a representative share of the ribbon window and curtainwall systems to locate infiltration and assess condition. Dew point testing on roughly ten percent of the insulated glass units measured seal performance to gauge remaining life in the glazing. Both efforts produced written reports with findings, observations, and recommended corrective actions.
